Best Practice Walking Your Senior Dogs

Prepare for the Weather

You’re probably already taking precautions when it comes to the weather no matter how old your dog is, but it becomes even more important as your dog gets older .

Storms and pressure systems can affect joints, as can extreme cold and heat. The symptoms of diseases can be worsened in unusually dry or humid air.

Prepare for the weather and take care of your dog’s needs. Check out the forecast to prepare yourself. Dress them appropriately in cold weather. They may need extra warmth now that they are older. If it’s hot, stay in the shade and take more breaks.

If the weather is too much for your senior, consider getting some exercise indoors and limiting time outside. However, don’t use bad weather as an excuse to skip exercise altogether.
